Another great auction
Our auction which ended this past Tuesday was great! The arrowheads commanded very good prices as did some of the sports cards. I think my sellers will be very happy with their checks. We are now setting up for our next auction which will begin July 13. This auction will feature the contents of a local estate and a collection of Elvis Presley memorabilia from a consignor. I'm told there are over 200 items in this collection including many of his records. I'm excited to start processing this auction.
One of the things I warn persons disposing of an estate is to not throw anything away until an auctioneer looks at it. So many times I've seen people prepared to throw something in the dumpster only to see it sell for $200-300 at auction. What one person may think is junk may be what another person is collecting. When selling at an online auction, the market is suddenly opened up to a much wider audience, and chances are someone in that crowd is looking for the items you are ready to toss away. In every auction I've done since going online there has been at least one item surprise me because of what it brought.
At the same time, when selling an estate don't expect the auctioneer to take everything. Most of us have a lot of junk filling up our basements, attics and garages. It is a waste of the estate's time and the auctioneer's time to try to sell those things. Besides, it will bring down the rest of your sale. Things that don't work or are broken should usually be tossed, but there are exceptions. If the item is a desired collectible someone will often buy it even if it is damaged and non-operating. Again, trust the judgment of a good auctioneer as to what to put in the auction and what to put in the dumpster.
If you live in southeast Indiana or northern Kentucky and have an estate to sell or quality items you would like to consign at auction, DM me and let's discuss the possibility of working together. In some cases, I might even buy your estate and save you the hassle of getting it ready for auction. This could also speed up getting the house ready for sale if that is something that you need to do.
Our next auction will begin July 13 so check it out at bickersauctionservice.hibid.com.
