Great online auction closing Tuesday

I have an excellent online collector's auction that will end Tuesday evening. This auction features many collectible lunchboxes, several with thermoses, a large assortment of Bobbleheads plus tools, furniture, household items and many other desirable items. This auction was originally set to close two weeks ago but had to be postponed due to my testing positive for Covid. We will have a preview this Saturday, August 14, from 2:00 - 5:00 at 975 Industrial Drive, Madison, IN. Since moving our auctions online we have been excited about the amount of items that have been consigned for sale. When we were doing live auctions we would average about 8-10 auctions a year. Since going online in January we have been able to have an auction every two weeks throughout the year. Frankly, if I devoted full-time to the auction business I could have had an auction every week. Because of the prices we are receiving online many of our sellers have sold in numerous sales. In this auction we are compl...

My newest book

Ministry has changed a lot since I began my pastorate in 1981. The challenges facing people have grown much more intense requiring churches to take a look at the ways they now minister to people. We simply do not know what some people are dealing with when they close their front doors. They may be facing violence, addictions, thoughts of suicide, sexual and/or gender confusion, poverty, racism or many other dangers that threaten to overwhelm them. This is why I wrote my latest book  Is Your Church Ready for Ministry in the Coming Decade? I address the above issues, and others, in a way that I pray promotes understanding and gives church leaders the tools they need to help persons in their congregations and communities achieve victory over these challenges. Many churches are not comfortable talking about such things, but if we do not give people biblical answers to their problems why are we here? One reason so many believe the church is irrelevant to their lives is because we haven'...

Always use a licensed auctioneer

Some people are surprised to learn that auctioneers in Indiana are required to be licensed and must undergo several hours of continuing study to maintain that license. Although some states do not require their auctioneers to be licensed, the majority do. In Indiana anyone wanting to be an auctioneer must take 80 hours of class, pass three tests and pass a final exam before being licensed. These classes focus on the laws that exist for auctioneers, ethical considerations for auctioneers as well as bid calling and other practical matters. As mentioned above, before a license can be renewed the auctioneer must take 16 hours of continuing education. I'm pleased to announce that I am licensed in both Indiana and Kentucky to conduct auctions. With the growth of online auctions one of the questions being asked around the country is if their states require licensing for those doing online auctions. In many states the answer is no, and it is causing problems. Some states are now looking int...
